FULL PERSONALITY:
Ghendan often comes off as cold and reserved, with a distaste for human interaction. This isn't too far from the truth--though he does not actually have an aversion to companionship. He does typically keeps himself closed off from others, making him appear distant and unfriendly, and he does not like others prying into his business. Of course, this "courtesy" extends to others as well--he will leave others alone regarding personal matters unless it affects him or his friends directly.

As a rule, he tries to avoid conflict unless deemed necessary. Not to say he's afraid of fighting--he can handle himself quite well, but he dislikes having to deal with unnecessary strife. While he values his independence strongly, he does not mind spending time with others, especially those he comes to consider his friends. It is a bit difficult for him to get close to others, especially at first, but he does look out for everyone around him. He's quite intelligent as a person, more often using logic to solve problems rather than emotions.

FULL BACKSTORY:
Ghendan was born under... unpleasant circumstances. The whole of Pern had been forced to flee south, consolidating their numbers into three distinct settlements. He was born only a handful of weeks after the settlements were established, likely making him one of the first children born in the South.

A shy and quiet child, he didn't have an easy time making friends. He did end up with a few close individuals, but for the most part kept to himself. His parents taught them to the best of their ability--his mother a Harper teaching him to read, write, and mathematics, and his father a Guard for the Hold teaching him how to defend himself.

When he came of age, he became an apprentice to the Hold's Journeymen and Master Harpers, helping with the compiling and preservation of Pern's history as it had been brought from the Northern Holds.

At sixteen he was Searched as a Candidate for an upcoming clutch at Final Weyr, though he failed to Impress. At the Weyr he was able to find himself a place in the hands of their Harpers' as well, where he began to help with Archiving what information had been able to be brought from the North. Despite Standing for every clutch since his Search, he has yet to bond to a dragon, though he didn't find himself particularly bothered by the outcome. After all, he had a future in Archiving and was perfectly happy with that.
