| Yukong"Please look after yourself, no matter where you are."BASICS NAME: Yukong NICKNAME(S): GENDER: Cisgender Female ORIENTATION: Lesbian
AGE: 46 BIRTHDATE: Winter 2632 OCCUPATION: Wherhandler, Guard WING/SQUAD: Nightwatch Squad
APPEARANCE HAIR COLOR: Black, Greying EYE COLOR: Blue-Green HEIGHT: Roughly 5'9" PLAY-BY: Yukong (Honkai: Star Rail) EXPY CLAIM: Yukong (Honkai: Star Rail) FULL APPEARANCE: Yukong is generally considered a conventionally attractive woman, even reaching nearly half a century of age. She has a youthful face, making her age hard to guess--though her black hair is starting to show the effects of time in silver patches. Her sharp eyes are a light blue-green, more on the blue side rather than green. Despite the difficulty it creates as far as care and maintenance, she keeps her hair long rather than short. She can often be seen wearing a gold hairclip.
Her height is a little on the tall side for a cisgender woman, with a slim figure and wide hips. Her bosom is fairly ample, though nothing that seems to cause her pain. As far as her choice in clothing, Yukong dresses appropriately for the weather, and prefers to wear blues and whites despite her Wher's color being brown.
PERSONALITY PERSONALITY TRAITS: Polite, Kind, Dedicated, Serious, Brave, Stubborn, Overbearingly Protective FULL PERSONALITY: Time and occurrence has deeply affected Yukong as a person. Once lively and bright and almost chaotic, she has mellowed down a massive amount since the migration. Most of this is due to trauma experienced during the devastating Threadfall of 2658.
A kind woman overall, she's more known for her seriousness and dedication. She has an air of authority to her even when not holding any notable rank, something which tends to make those around her inclined to listen. Yukong doesn't have a habit of mincing words, though she isn't rude about it either. She does what needs to be done and says what needs to be said, even if doing so is unpleasant. As a whole, she's not afraid to show emotions, though prefers to do so privately.
She does her best to look out for those around her, which can lead to her being a bit overbearing, especially toward her adopted daughter. While she has the best of intentions, it can lead to conflict. After all, she has lost a lot in her life, and is fearful of losing more.
BACKSTORY RELATIONS: Adopted Daughter (Open Tie, must have been born in either 2676 or 2677 and must either be a Rider or Candidate. Based on Qingni but can have a different name.) RELATIONSHIP STATUS: Single, abstinent, and not interested BIRTHPLACE: Cothold near Ruatha FULL BACKSTORY: (Warning: Death, Loss) Yukong was born many Turns ago in a tiny Cothold near Ruatha on the Northern Continent. Less than ten families made up the population, in fact. As such, they were a tightly-knit group, and Yukong was friends with all of the children her age. Her strongest bond, however, was with another girl named Caiyi. The two were nearly inseparable, and were even Searched together to Fort at fourteen.
Yukong would inevitably Impress at the upcoming Hatching, though she very nearly saw herself expelled from Candidacy for her shenanigans early on at the Weyr. Initially, she butted heads with the little green, Granth, that had chosen her, the rule-abiding dragon and wild spirit Yukong having difficulty seeing eye-to-eye. However, by their graduation two Turns later, they had formed a... reasonable partnership. Although they still butted heads occasionally, they were as inseparable as a rider-dragon pair should be.
At the Weyr, Yukong's relationship with her friend Caiyi remained strong, and the pair would be assigned to the same Wing when training for the upcoming Pass. Even their dragons flew well together, allowing them to learn maneuvers that would often take older riders many Turns to master. By the time Granth's rose for her maiden flight, however, things between Caiyi and Yukong had... changed. Caiyi had met another rider in their Wing and begun a relationship with him, and Yukong... realized that what she felt for her friend was not strictly platonic. Not wanting to get between her friend and her happiness, she kept her feelings to herself and quietly supported the pair.
Many Turns passed, and Yukong watched from the sidelines as her friend and the other rider grew closer, though the life of a Rider made childbearing and rearing difficult. It wasn't until they were about halfway to their third decade that Caiyi announced she was with child. Yukong was, of course, ecstatic for her friend and her friend's partner. Unfortunately, after giving birth and recovering would see Caiyi returning to Fort's wings just in time for the Pass to begin.
Although their banter was always lighthearted, although they promised they'd return to the Weyr, Yukong would promise her friend that if anything happened, she would look after her daughter. While the Creche was there to tend to a rider's child, Caiyi wanted her child to have active parents.
Unfortunately, Yukong had no idea how much things could change in a matter of hours. Her Wing was one of those sent to try and cover one of the fallen Weyrs, even just long enough for people to be evacuated. But there was too much, and they were stretched too thin. The last Yukong saw of her friend, a massive clump of Thread missed by an upper Wing collided with her midair, and she and her dragon vanished between. Panic seized her when they didn't reappear after a few seconds, and for the first time in her life--she froze.
Yukong should have considered it lucky that at least her dragon was paying attention, but she could never look back and say her mind felt it was so. Twisting in the air, her beautiful Granth bodily took the clump of Thread that would have killed her rider on impact. As pain through their shared bond snapped her back into the moment, Yukong pictured Fort's weyrbowl as they blinked between.
Everything after that point was both crystal clear and a blur all at once. She remembered them crashing into the ground, the crunch of bones and screams from her dragon. The last of the straps holding her to her dragon snapped and she hit the ground, whacking her head and dizzying her mind. Still, she felt the moment Granth vanished from her mind forever. No pain she hald felt until then or since could ever compare to losing half of herself in that moment.
For a while, she was gone to the world. The healers did what they could for her physically, but there was no repairing her mind. One day, only days before the migration South, a healer brought her a letter addressed to her, written by Caiyi before their fateful Threadfall. It reminded Yukong of the child she had left behind, and the promise she had made her to friend.
It was difficult to pull herself from the depths of despair, but upon arrival at the creche to meet her late friend's daughter for the first time since before that day, she knew she had to live. If not for herself, but for the little one. Having no dragon to care for, she would slowly transition to the child's caretaker, especially when the Weyr evacuated and many more children joined the creche, having lost their parents or even entire families.
Settling into Final Weyr was difficult, but time would see to it that the child would grow and thrive, and Yukong would slowly heal. Well--"heal" in the loosest sense of the word. Her loss never left, but she slowly grew to learn how to cope, especially with an increasingly-energetic child to look after.
A decade or so on the Southern continent and a soon-to-be-teen would see her butting heads with the girl as she insisted with increasing frequency that she wanted to join the ranks of Candidacy as soon as she was fourteen. Despite this, it never really caused a rift, just frustration, between the pair, and it wasn't until she was truly of-age to join the ranks that Yukong would finally end up revealing the truth of her heritage. This information did not deter her, nor did it drive them apart, and Yukong reluctantly allowed her charge to choose her own future.
Yukong long ago swore she would never bond again, but life had never been predictable. She had taken up learning Guardwork once her daughter was old enough to do chores and pick up a craft of her own. Although reluctant, she ended up choosing to stand for one hatching--which resulted in her bonding to a wherlet. While it wasn't ever something that would replace Granth, not at all anything she wanted to do, she knew a wher would help with her duties as a Guard.
Yukosk grew well and the pair eventually began working together as Guards at the Weyr, finally taking on roles in the Nightwatch Squad, where they remain.

| Yukosk Color: Brown Age: 8 Turns Birth Turn: Summer 2670 Hex Code: #b9a998Height: 6ft Length: 18ft Mutations: N/A PersonalityYukosk is a prideful wher, one who is prone to showing off for the sake of said pride. He's cocky and reckless, and tends not to think much before he acts, so Yukong is often his voice of reason. He's stubborn and can be immature, not above picking out the flaws of those who have wronged him just to have "the upper hand." Despite these flaws, he's very adaptable, quick-thinking, and determined, making him extremely useful, especially in a crisis. He's also very confident and despite his immaturity, he's capable of being very inspiring. He's awkward around female whers, but really enjoys being around wherlets... though he does have a bad habit of teaching them inappropriate things (like curses, or how to get their handler to give them more food). AppearanceA brown wher of considerable size, though not beyond "normal" measurements. He's just. Big. As a wherlet, he was all chub and wrinkles, though now he's just... big and wrinkled. His body is thick with muscle, a true workhorse specimen. His hide is pale tan, with brown splotches fading to a slightly darker brown in a line down his back, with a distinctive head-stamp. ___________________________________ | |
