Haur'fan of Garnet Sindrath - T'nal

" Oh I see! Well looks like she has a lovely blue dragon now. I shall hope we get a chance to meet the new weyrlings in person soon. I see so many I have not met but its exciting to see all the new impressions. We could use some cheer these days." He replied and pondered for a moment. He met so many people over his time here that sometimes he would forget a name or a face here and there till something reminded him. " I could see that qualifying as twins, just not sharing an egg. With all the new things we have been seeing lately with new colors and such.. I am excited to see what awaits us!"

While people were speculating on the eggs currently rocking, both split in different ways, at the same time.

The Confetti egg didn’t quite live up to its name, splitting into a neat grouping of shards around the hatchling. This hatchling was a simple powder blue, though his hide had the same odd shine that his blue sister’s had. Shaking himself free of the egg goop, he plodded towards the candidates, leisurely and without a hurry. A stubborn piece of eggshell had stuck itself in between his headknobs almost like a helmet, but he couldn’t quite reach it to take it off.

Harbingers of a new age - Page 2 JEwoE8d

However, he was not the only egg who’d hatched in that moment. The Dandelion Seeds egg had seemingly exploded, a stunning jet shaking herself free of the pieces before bounding towards a candidate standing in the fringes of the group. What’s my candidate doing in a spot like this? Come here, your Chaoroth is hungry!

Harbingers of a new age - Page 2 Gj0prck

Impression: Jet Chaoroth to ADOPTABLE.

She wasn’t the only baby on the sands, though, and the plodding blue had finally reached the line of candidates. He seemed a little lost as he inspected many of them, though he didn’t seem to grow upset even when he didn’t find his person right away. However, there was one who stood out to him, and he looked up at them with eyes a whirl of rainbow. Hello, Ezra? I don’t mean to be a bother, but your Saireth has a piece of shell stuck between his headknobs. Can you help me?

Weyrling Keigo of Green Koriath (Impression)

It was easy to be distracted by the-rather entertaining-harmless rampage of the second hatchling, the way it raced about as though it had far too much energy to contain. Keigo recognized that egg, one he'd been able to tell would be a hand full just from how it'd brushed against his psyche. It would have been more surprising if this one hadn't burst from its shell with at least a bit more flare than many.

It was also one that seemed to have shown some level of... curiosity at least, as far as he was concerned leading to a spark of cautious hope when it rushed his way, only for it to be swiftly quelled when it left just as quickly, coming to a halt in front of another. A candidate he knew to be older than himself, so seeing the reaction wasn't surprising-especially if she'd also had fears of aging out-likely even worse than his own, if he had to guess.

He didn't watch for long, gaze soon drawn by another flash of color and a far subtler motion, just in time to see the little green tumble free. Chuckling softly, he watched as she took her time-the exact opposite of her Blue clutchmate, it seemed... in more ways than one.

For while the Blue had rushed about in a mad dash almost as if searching, the Green seemed far calmer as her eyes wandered across the sands before settling on...

Honey brown widened as he seemed to catch all of her focus, the smile that had been present practically the entire time fading as he looked on in almost disbelief as she moved towards... him. And unlike some-like the Bronze or the Blue that had left room for uncertainty-there was little doubt of that, even before she settled, meeting his eyes with a prismatic gaze that damn near took his breath away as he felt that presence brushing against his own thoughts.

"You have waited quite some time, have you not? But I am here now, my Keigo."

"You could say that," He replied, though while he tried to sound like his usual self-or at least, the carefree, unbothered 'self' he portrayed-it would be hard to miss the strain in his voice, how it may have sounded just a bit choked up despite his best efforts not to. Finally after a decade he'd..."But worth every second... Koria...No, my Koriath."

The grin that split his face was almost painful, as was the burn in his eyes that he found himself struggling to fight back as he reached out, almost hesitantly brushing his fingers along her head knobs as though she might vanish as soon as he made contact. Taking a shuddering breath, it soon escaped on an almost disbelieving chuckle as he stepped from the line. "C... c'mon, lets get you fed, shall we?"

T'nal of Bronze Bilynth - Spectator, Haur'fan
"There's usually a feast after a hatching, right? Though I suppose that it could be overwhelming since everyone might want to do the same. Perhaps you could volunteer to help with their lessons? If I recall, there were a few that required some extra hands..." Though, perhaps the curriculum had changed since he'd been a Weyrling. It had been six whole Turns since he graduated, after all.

Watching the two shells break, he studied the first with a slightly furrowed brow. If not for the fact that it lacked the distinct color markings, he'd think it was a Jet. Though... "Oh, my. Is that blue metallic as well?" he queried, watching as the light glinted off his hide. "First a massive bronze, and now two shining blues. Perhaps Tsuneath is hiding some secrets..." He laughed almost conspiratorially, though it was all in good humor. Things were surely exciting!

Candidate Shouto (Touya)

"The hatchlings have killed before?" There was no hiding the shock in his voice, nor the brief glance of mortification he shot towards the large Bronze that had nipped at his roommate. If the dragonets had actually mauled or killed in the past, then had it actually been going for Katsuki then... His frown deepened, eyes darting to the other candidate then back to the sands, suppressing a shudder.

Katsuki was... lucky it seemed, that the Bronze had only nipped. If it had truly wanted to cause harm, the blond may very well have lost his foot-or life.

He was still visibly perturbed by the thought by the time motion on the sands finally caught his eye, bi-colored gaze settling on the splash of green as she began to move towards... ah. "Looks like it's your friend's turn." He noted, glancing to his brother from the corner of his eye.

Weyrling Ezra of Blue Saireth?! - Impression, Weyrlings

Ezra was feeling rather warm at this point, though it was a content kind, the hatching sands had that effect on him, due to the heat but because it was late winter, it also felt nice. His eyes were trained on the eggs when they both split open and what looked like a white to him at first until he got a closer look  came out of his egg rather elegantly. He noted with a bit of amusement the little bit of shell stuck to his knobs and thought how it looked like a little bit of armoring. He kept this thought well hidden though, not wanting to ridicule the newborn, it must take a lot of energy to get out of the egg. The second egg exploded like a firecracker and dragon went off and immediately impressed. Well that was one energetic dragon for sure!

But the blue had not yet and taken his time to plod over to the candidate line and the baby looked lost and Ezra worried for a second he could not find the one he sought and his heart was breaking. And he started to say a silent prayer to himself mentally that this soul would not between. There had been enough tragedy with dragons these last few years that he could not bare the thought of seeing this happen. But then a voice soft and sweet touched his mind and all other thoughts were dashed.

"Hello, Ezra? I don’t mean to be a bother, but your Saireth has a piece of shell stuck between his headknobs. Can you help me?"

His breath eluded him for a moment as his eyes locked with the baby... no.. Saireth's eyes and the burst of color within them. He knew what this meant... this was his dragon.. his beloved Saireth. He shook himself out of his own head and knelt down and gently removed the shell and put it carefully in his bag, sure no one would mind if he kept it as a memento. " There you are, my little starlight. Look at how pretty you are!" He said softly and embraced his dragon, his tears falling down his face and landing on the dragon, glittering like diamonds on the shiny hide.

"You were worth waiting for. But we can discuss that later, for I know you must be famished and we have a lifetime to get to know each other." He replied, dashing at his eyes, not caring who seen him weep, nothing and no one mattered more right now than Saireth. Leading him over to the feeding buckets, making sure he did not outpace his dragon, he knelt down and began feeding him. Looking over to the others, he smiled. " Hello there." he greeted each in turn, though his eyes were on his dragon a second later, making sure he did not choke as he ate, letting the dragon curl up on his lap as he ate. It seemed this one was a snuggly sort.. which made Ezra happy because all he wanted to do was hug him. Once he paused for a break between meat slices, Ezra leaned down and placed a kiss between the headknobs. Dreams really did come true and he was now living it.

Candidate Touya - Shouto
Touya shrugged his shoulders. "Just what I've heard. Would probably have to have been one of the big ones, though." A gold, or a bronze. Maybe a brown? Would a brown be big enough? If all bronzes were as big as the one that had hatched, it wouldn't surprise him at all to find out that they'd been able to kill someone.

He grimaced as he turned to look at Keigo. "Definitely not my friend." Wrinkling his nose, he resisted the urge to make a rude face at the blond as he escorted his dragon from the sands. "Good riddance." Maybe he wouldn't be Impressing this Hatching and he'd be free of Keigo for a few Turns. There was no way he'd have time to come harass him while he was busy raising and training a dragon.

The next egg to split was the Twin Lines Egg. first, a little foot poked out a hole, a pale yellow that would no doubt make the breath of several catch. Had Tsuneath laid a queen after all? But that foot was quickly followed by the rest of a decidedly bright red leg, and hopes of a queen were quickly dashed. This was followed by faint grumbling as the hatchling within struggled free of the shell, revealing a garnet.

Harbingers of a new age - Page 2 YFR1AKS

It took him a bit to fully get rid of all of his eggshell, grumbling all the while. But once he did, he started off at a deliberate pace towards the candidates, circling them several times and inspecting each as he did. The egg had certainly seemed friendly enough, but the hatchling within was far pickier, and he took his time before making his choice.

Coming to a halt in front of Touya, he lifted his chin in an imperious manner. Well? You wanted to impress, did you not? Surely your Sorith deserves some praise! he exclaimed, even as his eyes whirled with rainbows. His voice was deep, and quite clearly masculine, cementing that this was not a female garnet.

Touya of Garnet Sorith - Impression, Shouto
The next egg to hatch was a garnet, it seemed. If Touya had to pick, he'd hoped to bond to a male dragon, a blue or a brown, maybe a bronze. So he didn't end up paying it much mind at first, especially when it looked at first like it might have been a gold of all things. He definitely was not interested in Gold. Not to mention, this egg had definitely not liked him.

The grumbling did catch a bit of his attention, though--finally making him look at the dragonet as it eventually wiggled free. Said dragonet took its time, and eventually Touya lost interest again, gaze wandering over the sands in search of the next cracking egg. When the glint of bright red caught his eyes, lingering a beat or two longer than it should have in his peripheral, he finally turned his gaze downward.

Well? You wanted to impress, did you not? Surely your Sorith deserves some praise!

Touya blinked, staring down at the dragonet's whirling rainbow eyes. Something unnameable seemed to fit into place somewhere inside him--not quite his head and not quite his heart, but someplace between. "Uh." He glanced at Shouto, like somehow his little brother could help him now. There was definitely no undoing an Impression. What do you think you're looking at? He's not me at all. Come now, say your thanks and we can move on. I'm very hungry. The man visibly grimaced, frowning at his dragon. "I'm not thanking you."

Sorith stared at him for a moment, as if he couldn't quite believe what had just been said to him. Then he, somehow, despite the lack of capacity to do so, managed to look affronted. Has no one taught you manners, Touya? How dare you show me such disrespect! He stamped one taloned foot into the sands in indignation as his new rider made to pass him toward the feeding buckets. He was feeling his dragon's hunger, which was definitely a bizarre sensation. I could have chosen someone else, you know! Touya paused long enough to look back at the garnet, only a few paces behind him. "Guess you should have then, huh? Come on." He heard what could only have been the equivalent of mental sputtering before the dragonet's hunger seemed to get the better of him and he begrudgingly followed after his rider.

Apprentice Harper Izuku - Spectator, Open
A cream-colored foot burst from the--he glanced at his other notes--Twin Lines Egg, and Izuku let out a soft gasp. Was it a gold? He quickly began to scrawl across the hide he'd been note-taking on. Were Pearls capable of laying Golds? Would it be a new color? There was so little information known about them!

Waiting for more information, Izuku held his hand as steady as he could, eyes wide and transfixed on the tiny limb until red came into view. Then, he released the breath he hadn't realized he had been holding. Not a Gold after all. Not a problem. It was always possible that a blue sire might not result in a gold or a pearl from a pearl, there was no other information on them yet. This was why what he was doing was so important.

The garnet seemed to bond to a boy with black hair, definitely older than him by the looks of it, but something... seemed a little strange somehow. The boy stared walking off without his dragon--at least toward the food, so that wasn't the worst--but... still strange. Eventually, the garnet followed, but... Izuku scratched his chin. Perhaps there was an issue with the bond?

M'avis of Gold Ticiath | Fenix/Tsuneath, Elsa/Orushufath, weyrlings, otherwise open

Though she had thought today would be as regular as yesterday, M'avis was to be proven wrong as Tsuneath's voice rang across Final Weyr, heralding her clutch's hatching, her children soon to emerge. Pausing in her work, she looked up as Ticiath did, both's focus sufficiently shifted. It was obvious where she would be spending her afternoon: not in her office, staring at slates and charts until her head hurt. As she washed up and made herself presentable, her gold stretched at her ledge; to see her daughter's first clutch hatch would be a wonderful thing, something both she and her bonded agreed on wholeheartedly. It didn't take long for M'avis to leap up to Ticiath's neck in a practiced motion, making a short and easy glide to Final's hatching sands, a flight both knew well.

It wasn't a simple thing, to arrive and not make it obvious that she was there, given she rode a massive gold dragon, but M'avis made a point to be discreet so as not to disturb Tsuneath and her clutch, Candidates and other spectators arriving to watch. Spotting Fenix and a dragonrider she belatedly placed as Elsa, who had Impressed alongside Fenix at Ticiath's second clutch, in conversation at a discreet spot, she felt it prudent to approach, to support her Junior and friend in his pearl's first clutch; his nerves were sure to be running high. As she landed to permit her bonded safe passage into the Stands, Ticiath leapt fluidly to find a ledge suitable for her, settling down gracefully to observe. Today is a wonderful day, my darling! she called to Tsuneath, her voice, full of pride, her tail twitching where she let it hang. My congratulations to you and dearest Fenix!

Though she was silent for some time, M'avis was watching intently as egg after egg hatched. First was a bronze, one that seemed aggressive before he found his bonded in Lyney; she wished them both well inwardly. After him was a very energetic blue, who chose Plover, a fine Candidate she had met personally some time ago. Final would be lucky to count them among her wings. A green emerged shortly after, choosing Keigo quietly and quickly; a good and easy Impression. A blue and a jet emerged in short succession to each other; while that jet chose someone M'avis didn't know terribly well, Ezra was now a bluerider. Seeing his response to Impression, she knew it to be a wonderful thing between them. A garnet went to Touya, a dragon to rattle a Weyr to its core, it seemed.

It was a fine group of dragonets, though some eggs still hatched, some Candidates still waiting to be chosen. It was a class that made M'avis nod in approval to herself, a ghost of a smile curling her lips. Ticiath was much more obvious in her praise, humming to welcome each dragonet, though her eyes rested mostly on Tsuneath, her eyes whirling pride for her daughter and her clutch, such an accomplishment and a great moment of joy for Final Weyr. M'avis turned to regard Fenix and Elsa, to whom she afforded a nod to both. "Fenix, Elsa, a fine day to you both," she greeted in a tone most would find to be curt, but those who knew her well would know her voice was rather warm right now.

To Fenix, M'avis observed him quietly before continuing. "How are you holding up? A hatching is quite an affair for a clutchmother and her bonded both." Not forgetting Elsa, she looked to her too and asked, "And while I'm afraid we've not spoken much since your weyrlinghood, how do you do? I trust your Orushufath is well? A hatching is a time to celebrate, after all."

Weyrling Keigo of Green Koriath (Weyrlings)

So many times, Keigo had been there on the sands, watching till the last egg hatched and the final dragonet chose its rider before leaving the sands and returning to the candidate's barracks with that sense of longing and uncertainty only growing worse and worse every time. It made it almost impossible, the first couple weeks after a hatching, for Keigo to actually bring himself to focus once more on the studies for his 'contingency plan', all too aware that it only became more likely he'd need it with each passing year.

Leaving the line of candidates early, moving not off the sands but just to another section, the one with buckets of meat ready and waiting for the freshly hatched dragons, felt... surreal. Even as he settled, taking up a bucket and reaching in to pull a chunk of flesh out to offer Koriath...

"It's real, Keigo," she assured, the touch of amusement in her voice impossible to miss. Just as when she'd hatched she was calm, unhurried as she gently took the meat from his hand. He'd almost suspect the small dragnet wasn't hungry at all if he hadn't been able to sense the hunger gnawing at her belly through the freshly formed bond. "This is no dream you're going to wake from. For the rest of our lives, I'm yours and you are mine."

Surprise flickered briefly across the blond's features before he was giving a low chuckle.

"That's... gonna take some getting used to," he admitted, reaching for another piece of meat for the young dragon. Not only hearing her voice in his head, but realizing that... she could sense everything that went on inside his head as well. The carefully constructed walls and façade he'd spent so long forming meant nothing to Koriath-a thought that was almost terrifying even as it brought with it an odd sense of... comfort.

So distracted by the Green, it wasn't until Ezra was joining them that he looked up, smiling as he saw the tears in the other cadidate's... no, the other weyrling's eyes, observed the way he embraced his dragon. "Hey," he greeted, unsurprised when the other's attention was back on his dragon a moment later. "Feel real yet? Sure doesn't for me."

A soft chuff sounded from Koriath, almost a... chuckle he supposed. She didn't seem to mind his disbelief, seemingly finding it more amusing than anything else.

The next crack to ring out from the sands did draw Keigo's attention, eyes widening as they landed on the shimmering obsidian shell and the gold foot sticking out!? No, that... there'd been no signs of Tsuneath laying a queen, had there!?

Excitement was dashed almost as soon as it began to take form, as red emerged as well, and Keigo couldn't help but simply stare for several long moments before he was laughing, offering another piece of meat to Koriath as he felt her take the last bit of the other. He was fairly sure he hadn't been the only one fooled for that brief moment.

He focused most of his attention back on Koriath, the faint smile not leaving him, even when his gaze occasionally glanced towards the Garnet. Not until it was replaced by a look of surprise as he saw who it had chosen and... well, the look on her riders face.

This time there was some attempt made at stifling his laughter. As much as Keigo may have liked stirring things up, he knew there was a time and place and during a hatching, on the sands with a clutch mother watching her first children join the world? Definitely not the time and most certainly not the place.

That didn't mean it was all that easy when he saw the way the dragonet reacted to... whatever Touya had said-he wished he hadn't been too far away to hear it, honestly-or when Touya began moving towards them, almost leaving the garnet behind. However, when the newest Weyrling did join them... Well, who would he be if he didn't at least comment? "Wow, who'd of thought you could even look like a sourpuss during an Impression? Makes me wonder if your face really is just stuck that way."

Fenix of Pearl Tsuneath

“Even if that hatchling becomes more unruly as he grows, Tsuneath and Ticiath will be able to stop him,” Fenix pointed out, watching several more people impress. With only three eggs left, the hatching was winding down just a bit. It was a good class so far, with a variety of colors and riders. While there was still an undercurrent of anxiety to his thoughts, Fenix was proud of this first clutch from his bonded. Tsuneath had made a fine group of hatchlings.

Eventually, he and Elsa were joined by M’avis, who had asked after his own wellbeing during all of this. Offering the older queenrider a small smile, he gestured towards their new weyrling class with a shrug. “The hatching hasn’t been bad, so I’m doing well enough. The flight was worse, the one bronzerider who doesn’t stay at the Weyr made some… comments. Though the others who had come to my Weyr looked ready to jump him…” he replied, his expression turning rueful for a moment before he forced his feelings on the matter down. Now was not the time for grievances, there were still hatchlings left to meet.

Touya of Garnet Sorith - Keigo, Weyrlings
Despite the near-annoyance pasted to his face, he did have to admit that it wasn't... entirely bad. Even if he was now stuck with that pain in the rear blond again. Hopefully, Weyrlings had separate rooms. He'd been roomed with Plover before this so at least he got to escape him there, but if they were all in a room together or something? He'd probably throttle him before the end of the week.

"Hilarious," he snipped at Keigo for his comment, marching past him and to the feed buckets. Sorith, however, remained near Koriath.

Koriath! he chirped to his green sister, simultaneously in greeting and indignation. My rider will not show me proper respect! He didn't even praise me for deigning to Impress to him! The garnet gave a soft huff, plopping down on his rear stubbornly and refusing to move even as Touya tried to gesture him away from Koriath and her rider. Luckily (or not so much), Sorith was too large for him to pick up and carry easily--or at least at the very border of it, and Touya didn't doubt that the garnet would make his life as difficult as possible if he tried to do so.

Regretfully resigned to his fate, he trudged back to his dragon, frowning at him. Sorith pretended not to notice his return, head turned away with his nose in the air. Touya gave an aggrieved sigh, smoothing his hand not occupied by a bucket of meat down his face, then set said bucket in front of the garnet, who continued to pretend to ignore him. He could tell he was pretending, because he could feel just about everything the Garnet was. Especially hunger. If he didn't know that he'd only eaten an hour ago, he'd think that maybe he hadn't eaten in a week by how much his stomach felt like it was cramping. "Come on Sorith, just eat. We both know you're sharding hungry."

The garnet huffed again, turning his head the other way as his rider tried to push a small mouthful of meat into his face. Not until you show some respect. "Oh for Faranth's sake..." Reaching out, he tried to grab the dragonet's maw and pry it open, only for said dragonet to lean away instead, causing him to nearly face-plant straight into the burning sands. Cursing up a storm, he sat up and brushed off his robes, dropping the now-sandy meat in his grip onto the ground. He'd clean it up later, but he wasn't going to try to make Sorith eat sandy meat when he didn't even want to eat regular meat.

After wiping his hands on his robes, he flicked his wrist a few times to try and dislodge the sticky grains stuck to the meat remanants on his skin. "For Faranth's sake! Fine!" he snapped, flinging his hands into the air. "Oh great Sorith, thank you for Impressing me. Will you just eat already?"

The garnet's multifaceted eyes seemed to focus on his rider finally, whirling slowly as he contemplated. Acceptable, I suppose. He looked at Keigo for a moment. Koriath's rider, please teach mine some proper manners, will you? Sorith gave a sniff, and then opened his mouth for the first handful of meat, which Touya, still visibly annoyed, shoved in.

The next egg to crack did so so slowly that it would’ve gone entirely unnoticed save for the very tip of a tail starting to poke out. Another hole near the top of the egg had an eye peek out before seeming to recoil, to which the dragonet’s pearl mother responded with a gentle nudge to the egg, which was the Leaf Armor egg.

Finally, reluctantly, the egg spilled out a very timid-looking garnet, rather chunky in build and with eyes whirling an anxious yellow. She made no attempts to move at first, but another insistent nudge to her daughter from Tsuneath had the garnet anxiously skittering towards the candidates.

Eventually, she seemingly found the candidate she wanted, her eyes whirling with the rainbows of impression before she was hiding behind her wings. Your Sobuith wants to leave this place. It’s too loud…

Candidate Plisetsky | weyrlings, otherwise open

At Tsuneath's call, Plisetsky wasted no time. It was a familiar process, to make ready; get cleaned up from chores, find his robes, look himself up and down in a seeing glass, reaffirming what he had learned in his mind from nearly four Turns of being a Candidate. Face set in a determined grimace, he made his way down to Final Weyr's hatching sands, where Tsuneath presided, watching her clutch hatch. To her, he bowed respectfully, as he was taught, before he found a spot to stand where he wouldn't be troubled by other Candidates; he was something different from them, he had to be. Today was his day, he had to Impress. And he refused to acknowledge that his palms had started to sweat, a frown creasing his brow, but his face set in a determined expression as he watched eggs hatch and dragonets approach them all.

First was a bronze, who Plisetsky thought might come to him, but rather snapped at a couple Candidates before choosing Lyney. Though he scowled at that, he turned to see what would come after. A blue emerged and chose Plover, followed by a green for Keigo, a blue for Ezra, a jet who chose someone that he didn't know a name to call them; a nobody, in that case. One garnet, a second, both choosing...not him, but Touya and another nobody. Growing increasingly frustrated and worried (which he again refused to acknowledge), Plisetsky turned to watch as two eggs were left rattling. Surely, one of those had to be his...right? To be left standing again, to let his grandfather down...that would be unacceptable. But before he could let his emotions overwhelm him, he forced himself to take a breath. Intense thoughts and negative emotion could often put off hatchlings, he could recall, which was not at all an option, in his book.

G'pard of Blue Landauth - Spectators, Open
G'pard had risen with the call to the Weyr, finding himself a nice spot amongst the Stands to watch the Hatching. He was amongst the first few rows, watching each new birth with rapt attention. The new Weyrlings received polite applause as was necessary, though his attention seemed to drift back to one particular Garnet and their rider more than once, especially when he noticed them nearly falling face-first into the sand near the others. Was there some sort of trouble?

It wasn't much his business, but strife amongst the Weyrlings wouldn't bode well for their lessons in the long run. Hopefully they'd settle once they got used to the bond. He and Landauth had gotten on well enough from the start, though they had taken some time to see completely eye-to-eye on certain things, but he knew others weren't quite as lucky.

Regardless, his attention turned back to the final two eggs. One large, one medium--perhaps Tsuneath would still show them a Queen yet. Not that he was particularly bothered either way, but he knew some were hopeful given the threat of Thread and need for more dragons to protect the remaining people of Pern.

The Star Egg, which had been oddly inactive despite how very loud at the touching, was the next to rock. It went surprisingly slowly too, though it hadn’t moved at the glacial pace Koriath and Sobuith had when hatching from their own respective eggs. As it shook apart, the hatchling that confidently stepped from the wreckage of the egg was revealed to be… a jet!

He seemed completely sure of himself as he made his way to the candidates, shaking the egg goop free of his body as much as he could as he went. Hide gleaming in the sunlight, he stopped before Plisetsky with eyes a whirl of rainbow.

If people had been wondering where that loudness was before, this was where it emerged.

Plisetsky! Why so upset? Aren’t people usually happy to impress?

However, he wasn’t the only egg left on the sands. With an aggressive shake that tipped the egg over first, the Cracked egg finally split open to reveal… another bronze!

No queens from Tsuneath, but a bronze was far from a bad omen to end a clutch with, even if said bronze almost immediately snapped at a nearby candidate, light enough to not damage too badly but hard enough to draw some blood.

Stalking away from that candidate, he went down the line with irritation clearly visible in his demeanour, repeating his pacing several times.

Eventually, he made his choice, stopping in front of a startled candidate with a grow and eyes of whirling rainbows. You! You’re Angyth’s now. Come on, I’m hungry.
